The National Institute of Informatics (NII) is Japan's sole academic research institute dedicated in the field of informatics, and offers the information platform for research. NII is constructing the Cyber Science infrastructure (CSI). CSI manages the next generation science information network (SINET3), and also the science grid middleware developed in the NAREGI project has been released and is to be deployed in the academic community.
